Stalawatt at the Africano, Heilbronn, 8 April 2005

Stalawatt met up at the Africano in Heilbronn, Germany, for a session which reunited selector Moko Koya with the Newcastle crew.

The Africano cafe bar and kulturhaus ('house of culture') is a cosy little venue. The small crowd included people of many nationalities including Germans, Angolans, Ethiopians, Ugandans, Togoans and, of course, us English - a truly outernational affair. Papa S warmed up with a few Bob Marley favourites, before moving into a roots rocking reggae selection which saw people shift to the dancefloor - having had time to sink a Weissenbier or two.

Moko Koya took over from Papa S on a dancehall tip, dropping a few remixes into his set and making sure the dancers kept up the pace. Eventually, with everyone tiring at the end of the night, he slowed things down with a second easy skanking roots selection.

A fantastic night. We had a great time, met some lovely people, and some wicked dancers. We have to give a massive Stalawatt big up to the Africano crowd - we'll be back in Heilbronn to do it all again before too long!
